L-S boys rally from early hole, down Colfax-Mingo

Hawks dominate middle two quarters in win over Tigerhawks

SULLY — Colfax-Mingo and Lynnville-Sully each won two quarters of their boys’ basketball game on Tuesday night.

The Tigerhawks got off to a hot start, but the Hawks rallied behind two superb periods and claimed a 63-52 home victory during South Iowa Cedar League action.

Colfax-Mingo led 17-6 after one frame. L-S outscored the Tigerhawks 46-21 in the middle two periods to rally and that was enough to win. C-M won the fourth quarter 14-11.

“We played well in the middle two quarters,” L-S boys’ coach Nick Harthoorn said. “We have to start and finish the game better. We got a lot of good shots. We have to do a better job finishing at the rim.”

The Hawks (8-4 overall, 8-2 in the SICL) shot just 34 percent from the floor but won the game because they made eight 3-pointers and scored 25 points off 26 Tigerhawk turnovers. L-S shot 5-of-8 from the foul line.

The Tigerhawks made 45 percent of their shots and were 6-of-14 from 3-point range but made just 8-of-19 from the line.

Preston Rodibaugh led all scorers with 20 points and added three assists and six steals for the Hawks. Corder Noun Harder chipped in 11 points, four rebounds, five assists and six steals and Klayton Van Dyke had eight points, 14 rebounds and three steals.

Conner Maston scored 11 points and swiped three steals, Mason Jansen finished with five points, four rebounds and three assists, Ryan Annee scored four points and Mason Rodibaugh had three steals.

Curtis Horras led the Tigerhawks (3-10, 2-10) with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists and Jake Nichols had nine points and 16 rebounds.

Cole Bracewell tallied 13 points and three assists, Zach Steenhoek chipped in six points, three rebounds and three steals and Cael Bracewell hit a 3-pointer.
