Melissa Ann Eilander

Melissa Ann Eilander, 55, of Prairie City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at Grace Alive Church in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 at Grace Alive in Prairie City. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left at coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Melvin and Linda (Hinckley) McReynolds, Missy was born Oct. 28, 1965, in Knoxville. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1984 and went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from AIB. On May 31, 1986, she was united in marriage to Scott Eilander. Missy worked as a supervisor in medical insurance. She loved her dogs and enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, shopping, having her nails done and crocheting blankets, even though she never finished them. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Scott; a daughter, Jess (Jared) Gilbert of Stuart; her grandchildren, Lili and Jack Gilbert; her sister, Marla (Randy) Moore of Warsaw, Mo.; her niece, Olivia Lippman of Warsaw, Mo.; her in-laws, Rich and Patty Eilander of Monroe; and several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding Missy in death were parents, Melvin and Linda McReynolds; and her grandparents, Lyle and Alice Hinckley and Earl and Cleo McReynolds.
