Ramona Holdsworth went home to be with her Savior Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at Park Centre in Newton. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Facemasks are suggested. Visitation will be at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Please, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Ramona’s family.

Ramona Mae Holdsworth, 93, was born March 18, 1928, near Bussey. The daughter of John Keith and Naomi Bernice (Moon) Cameron, she graduated from Newton, Class of 1946, and later attended two years of teachers college. She devoted herself to her family and also taught school for several years before she was married. On March 24, 1951, she was married to Ronald Holdsworth in Newton. She owned a bookstore in Newton for several years and was a member of the Associate for Women’s Work in the regional office of Upper Midwest and of the First Christian Church, Women’s C.W.F., 20th Century Club, PEO Chapter and Kiwanis Queens.

Ramona is survived by her son, Charles Holdsworth (Alice) of Minnesota; daughter, Kathy Holdsworth of Grimes; two grandchildren, Gregory (Andrea) and Veronica Dammeyer (Michael); great-grandson, Aidan Dammeyer; and many good neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patricia Chalstrom; and brother, Tom Cameron.
