Good News Club wrapping up spring season

The Good News Club has had a successful season in Monroe Elementary and thanks the community, parents and volunteers for their support.

Following last summer where nearly 20 children learned the Gospel during the Five Day Club held in the town park, to children and volunteers promoting the Good News Club in two of the community’s hometown parades, the club has now grown to serve an average of 40 children biweekly at Monroe Elementary. This growth has been a direct result of prayer for guidance, vision, volunteers and children with open hearts to learn about Jesus. God has opened doors.

A team of 10 adult volunteers is currently leading children through the Wordless Book curriculum, which is engaging children ages 5 to 11 in God’s love and plan for redemption to all those who believe in Jesus.

Children are celebrating with songs about John 3:16, “The B-I-B-L-E” and “I Can Know God.”

Children are beginning to recognize and anticipate God’s plan for mankind using the Bible Timeline.

Children are also beginning to recognize and ask about their own sin, such as lying or being mean to others. We are seeing hearts softened and eyes aglow as they learn about the truth of the Bible and God’s love.

We have also structured a breakout session for fifth and sixth grade students where they are beginning to be discipled by a trained adult leader. Some students are beginning to show interest in missionary work and the opportunities with Christian Youth in Action (CYIA). Our prayer is for children to attend summer camps, Five Day Clubs, get involved in a local church and share Christ with others.

The Good News Club will wrap up its spring session with an Easter Party Club from 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 3 at Monroe Elementary. Call Jane at 641-891-2733 for more information.
