MercyOne Newton Medical Center receives Jasper Community Foundation grant to fund obstetrics equipment

Local obstetrics provider Dr. Hannah Heckart shown with the new GE Coro 259cx series maternal/fetal monitor system at MercyOne Newton, made possible through grant funds from the Jasper Community Foundation.

MercyOne Newton Medical Center received a $5,000 grant from the Jasper Community Foundation to support the purchase of a new GE Coro 259cx Series maternal/fetal monitor system.

The GE Coro 259cx Series maternal/fetal monitor system plays a vital role in providing high quality care for mothers and babies by monitoring them during the labor process to ensure a safe delivery experience. This new monitor system is the most current technology available and will work in conjunction with the hospital’s Novii walking fetal monitor, which allows mothers to be active during the labor process.

“The new GE Coro series maternal/fetal monitor is appreciated by both patients and caregivers,” Dr. Hannah Heckart, family practice with OB physician who delivers babies at MercyOne Newton, said. “The new monitor system is the most current technology and works with the walking fetal monitor which allows mothers to walk during labor while ensuring the baby is continuously monitored. The OB team really appreciates the Jasper Community Foundation’s contribution to make this purchase.”
