Library Winter Hours

In an effort to better serve the community, the Newton Public Library has adopted new winter hours with an earlier morning opening time. New hours are:

Monday-Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Winter Reading Program

January 1 – February 28

Beat the cold weather blues by curling up with a good book! Readers of all ages are invited to participate in our new winter reading program. Visit the library to pick up a reading log, then log the books you borrow from the library throughout January and February to earn entries into prize drawings for kids, teens, and adults. Prizes include brag tags, movie tickets, tote bags, coffee, and a new Kindle!

Baby Storytime

Mondays, 10:00 a.m.

Baby storytime is back on Monday mornings! This special storytime is for newborns up to 18 months with their caregiver. The storytime lasts about 15 minutes and consists of a couple short books, songs, and bubble playtime. Siblings are welcome to attend. No registration required.

Just for Job-Seekers

Wednesdays, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Work on your resume, edit your cover letter, or complete an online application during our job-seeker support hours. Please contact Public Services Librarian, Becca Klein at 641-792-4108 to schedule your appointment. This program will not be held on January 12th.

Readers Rendezvous Book Club

January 19, 1:00 p.m.

Get a jump start on your 2022 reading goal with our new adult book club! This book club will read popular titles in a variety of genres, and is sure to have something for every reader. Copies of the monthly title can be picked up at the library information desk. New members are always welcome. Attendees are welcome to bring their lunch to the meeting. The January pick is “Circe” by Madeline Miller.

Tiny Art Show

Canvas Pick Up: January 3 – 31

Tiny Art Show: February 1 – 28

Display your artistic talents in our tiny art show! Pick up a free 4x4 canvas at the library beginning January 3rd and create a mini masterpiece at home. Return your canvas by January 31st to have your art included in our tiny art show. Art will be on display throughout the month of February. Submissions should be family-friendly. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Canvasses available while supplies last.
