Shiny & Bright Holiday Light Scavenger Hunt

Nov. 26 – Dec. 26

Join our special holiday lights scavenger hunt for all ages. Just download the GooseChase app to your phone or mobile device and search for game name Newton Public Library Shiny & Bright Holiday Light Hunt or enter game code PB587J. Find as many of the items on our list as you can while enjoying holiday light displays all over Newton! One lucky team will win a holiday-themed goodie bag. All ages are welcome to play along.

Baby Storytime

Mondays, 10:30 a.m.

Baby storytime returns on Monday mornings. This special storytime is for newborns up to 18 months with their caregiver. The storytime lasts about 15 minutes and consists of a couple short books, songs and bubble playtime. Siblings are welcome to attend. No registration required.

Adult Take & Make Craft Kit: Book Page Tree

Pick Up Dec. 6 – 11

Make a cute and festive decoupage book page tree with this free craft kit for adults. Crafters will need to supply their own glue or mod podge and a brush. All other materials will be provided. Supplies are limited and registration is recommended to reserve a craft kit. Photos of the finished project can be viewed on the library Facebook page. Registration opens Nov. 29. Just for Job-Seekers

Wednesdays, 2 – 5 p.m.

Work on your resume, edit your cover letter or complete an online application during our job-seeker support hours. Contact public services librarian Becca Klein at 641-792-4108 to schedule your appointment.

Library Late Open

Friday, Dec. 10

The Newton Public Library will be closed the morning of Friday, Dec. 10, for a staff event. The library will open to the public at 1 p.m.

Connect 2 Careers Drop-In Hours

Tuesday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to noon

Teens and young adults ages 14-24 are invited to drop in to meet with a Children & Families of Iowa Connect 2 Careers career planner at the Newton Public Library. Connect 2 Careers is a free program that provides youth and young adults with the support and skills needed for success in school and work. The program matches participants with a career planner who assists them as they map out a career pathway. The program can provide skills to create resumes, match participants with paid and unpaid internships and work experience, provide study skills training, and explore college opportunities. Questions?
