Existing cardholders earn an entry for every five books they check out — all month long. There is no limit on the number of drawing entries you can earn. Library Card Sign-Up Month prizes are donated by the Friends of the Newton Public Library.

October Mystery Bag

Pick-Up Oct. 1 - 23

Wondering what to read next? Check out our monthly mystery bags for adults. Mystery bags have a new theme every month and contain a surprise selection of four or five books and an adult craft. Return the books when you’re done with them; keep the craft. October’s theme is “Thrills & Chills.” The October bags will include a selection of thrillers, mysteries and slightly spooky (not too scary!) books just in time for Halloween. The craft is a lace doily spider web. Registration opens Sept. 20. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register.

Borrow a WIFI Hotspot!

Did you know the library loans out WIFI hotspots? Hotspots can be borrowed by Newton residents ages 18 and up with a Newton Public Library card in good standing. Hotspots check out for seven days and can be renewed up to two times, if nobody else is waiting for one. To borrow a hotspot, visit the library circulation desk with your library card and a photo ID. You will also need to have a current, working email address on file with the library. Questions? Call the library at 641-792-4108.
