Esther Kathleen Bond, age 91, of Columbia, MO, peacefully passed away at home of natural causes the evening of 24 March 2021. A memorial service will be held 9 July 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Colfax, IA.

E. Kathleen Bond was born in Colfax, IA, on 3 May 1929 to Mary Edith Cambridge Williams and George Arthur Williams. She attended Colfax High School where she was active in band and basketball and graduated in 1947. Following graduation, she was temporarily employed as a telephone operator in Colfax before following her dream of a career in nursing. Kathleen graduated from a three-year Mercy Hospital School of Nursing curriculum in Des Moines, IA, in 1951. That same year she was united in marriage to Ralph Edward Bond on 9 August 1951 and moved to San Diego, CA, where she was certified by the State of California as a Registered Nurse. She would go on to be licensed to practice in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri as well. In addition to a stellar nursing career Kathleen was employed at the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames, IA, taught at the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) School in Columbia, MO, was the Director of Nursing at Mid-West Columbia Regional Hospital, received a BA in Psychology from Columbia College in 1985, and was a lifetime member of the Mercy College of Health Sciences Nursing Alumni Association. At home she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tole painting, and was active in church activities.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Bond; three sons, William G. Bond, Roy E. Bond, and David R. Bond; seven grand-children, six great grand-children, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, David C. Williams and John R. Williams, and a sister-in-law, Mieko Williams.
