By Christopher BraunschweigAbout 300 kids registered for the Newton Public Library's summer reading program. The kick-off party was held Tuesday, June 1 on the lawn of the library. Sea Turtle Ice Cream Company provided free ice cream to every registered child. Phyllis Peter, youth services librarian, said about 522 people attended the launch event.
