IHSAA releases postseason wrestling assignments

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the postseason wrestling assignments recently and the five Jasper County programs will be competing in four different locations.

Newton will be heading to a familiar location for its Class 3A district meet and Colfax-Mingo is the host site for one of the 1A sectionals.

The Cardinals will go back to Marshalltown and compete for their district meet at noon on Feb. 13. Other teams at that location includes Ames, Ankeny Centennial, Boone, Dallas Center-Grimes, Southeast Polk, Urbandale and host Marshalltown.

Colfax-Mingo hosts a 1A sectional meet at noon on Feb. 6 in Colfax. Lynnville-Sully joins the Tigerhawks along with Collins-Maxwell, Interstate 35, Martensdale-St. Marys, Pleasantville and Southeast Warren.

The top two finishers from that sectional go to Pleasantville for the district meet at noon on Feb. 13. The rest of the schools competing for spots at that district tournament includes Cardinal, Moravia, New London, North Mahaska, Pekin, Sigourney-Keota, Van Buren and Wayne.

The third 1A school from the area is Baxter, and the Bolts go to Ogden for their sectional meet on Feb. 6. That sectional includes Audubon, ACGC, Coon Rapids-Bayard, East Sac County, Nodaway Valley, South Central Calhoun, Fort Dodge St. Edmond and host Ogden.

The district meet for those sectional schools will be at ACGC on Feb. 13.

The schools also vying for spots at that district tournament are Alta-Aurelia, Lawton-Bronson, Logan-Magnolia, MVAOCOU, West Monona, Westwood, Woodbine and host ACGC.

PCM will be in a 2A sectional at Knoxville on Feb. 6, joining host Knoxville, Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, North Polk and Saydel.

The district meet for those schools will be at ADM of Adel. The rest of the teams competing for spots at that district meet includes host ADM, Gilbert, Greene County, Perry, Van Meter-Earlham and Woodward-Granger.
