Snow squall warning issued for Jasper County

Dangerous road conditions possible

The National Weather Service has issued a snow squall warning that includes Jasper County until 12:45 p.m. Monday.

According the NWS website, a dangerous snow squall was located over Ankeny at 11:40 a.m. moving east 25 miles per hour. Motorists are cautioned as heavy snow could lead to poor visibility of less than a quarter of mile. This causes a potential for life-threatening travel.

Travelers are asked to consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes. For those who must travel, use additional caution and allow extra time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead to accidents.

Besides Jasper, the warning is in effect for Polk and Dallas Counties.
