Two Tigerhawk harriers medal at Ogden

OGDEN — Senior Noah Strohmeyer and sophomore Carter Gibson both finished in the top 10 of the boys' 5K race and earned medals at the Ogden Cross County Invitational on Tuesday.

The Tigerhawk boys were without top runner Max VanDusseldorp and still finished third in the team standings at Don Williams Golf Course.

Colfax-Mingo scored 77 points. Class 1A No. 7 Ogden placed six runners in the top 11 and scored 26 points. Grand View Christian (51) was second followed by Woodward-Granger (86) in fourth and Panorama (131) in fifth.

In the girls' 5K race, 2A No. 5 Panorama had a perfect score of 15 points after grabbing the first five positions. Ogden (65), Grand View Christian (74), Woodward-Granger (77) and Colfax-Mingo (129) rounded out the five-team field.

Strohmeyer finished sixth in the boys' 5K race with a time of 19 minutes, 5.03 seconds. Gibson came in eighth with a time of 19:32.19. The top 10 finishers in each varsity race earned medals.

Junior Coleman Craig (21:21.26) finished 20th, senior Avery Lees (21:40.70) ended up 23rd and sophomore Mason Edwards (22:14.23) was the final counting runner in 28th.

Freshman John McGill (22:17.38) finished 29th and senior A.J. Gibson (22:22.33) was 31st. Senior Hunter Stevens (23:25.72) also finished 37th.

Class 1A No. 13 Stephen Flynn of Ogden won the race in 17:32.30. Ogden's Jordan King was second in 18:29.5.

Class 2A No. 6 Ella Waddle of Panorama won the girls' 5K race in 20:51.37.

Sophomore Joslyn Chadwick finished 22nd in 27:19.08 and senior Daytin Chadwick was 23rd in 28:20.85.

The other three scoring runners were junior Kirsten Frier (29:42.72) was 27th, senior Maggie Schroeder (32:09.38) was 28th and senior Brennan Rhone (32:24.39) finished 29th.

The two non-scoring runners were senior Elayna Creech (35:15.96) was 32nd and senior Miranda McGill (39:27.94) finished 33rd.

Colfax-Mingo competes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Dakins Lake in Zearing.
