Thomas Patrick Vest Jr.

Thomas Patrick Vest Jr., 46, of Newton and formerly of Tama, passed away April 2, 2020. A memorial service will be announced at a future date. Please feel free to leave condolences to the family at kruse-phillips.com.

Thomas was born June 17, 1973, in Marshalltown, the son of Thomas and Janet (Buresh) Vest Sr.  He graduated from South Tama High School in 1992. On July 12, 1997, he was united in marriage to Jamie Allen at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama. Thomas worked at Lennox after graduation for 12years. In 2006, they moved to Peoria, Ariz., where he entered the diesel mechanic trade. They moved back to Iowa in 2013, where he continued in the diesel field. In 2019, he started Tom’s Truck & Trailer Repair. Tom loved going to Holiday Lake with his Grandpa Buresh. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Brodee and going on daddy daughter dates with his daughter, Baileigh. He loved watching Brodee trap shoot and Baileigh’s Special Olympics, and was proud of all of their accomplishments. Tom had an infectious smile and would do anything for anybody. He had a heart of gold.

Survivors include his wife Jamie of Newton; his children, Baileigh and Brodee Vest of Newton; his parents, Thomas Sr. and Janet Vest of Tama; father-in-law, Jim (the late Pat) Allen of Toledo; maternal grandparents, Ernie and Janice Buresh of Tama; two brothers, Chad (Sabrina) Vest of Toledo and Mitch (Kaeli) Vest of Phoenix, Ariz.; special aunt, Kathy Timm of Tama; several other aunts and uncles; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

A memorial fund has been set up at Bank Iowa in Newton under Brodee Vest for he and his sister’s college funds.
