Laura B. Wickham

Laura B. Wickham, 88, of Newton, passed away at Newton Health Care Center Thursday morning, Feb, 20, 2020. Laura was born Jan. 10, 1932, to Roy and Marjorie (Harris) French. She was one of four children and grew up on a farm West of Prairie City, where she graduated from the Prairie City high school.

Laura Belle was united in marriage with W.R.(Dick) Wickham, May 13, 1956, in Prairie City. They lived in Newton where they raised their son,s Greg and Doug. Laura worked at Maytag a short time and later for Smith Rental in Newton, as a bookkeeper. Laura enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball and could get into some passionate discussions about politics, which she followed very closely.

Laura is survived by her son, Doug Wickham (Angie) of Ankeny; and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. (Dick) on Oct. 24, 2014; her son, Greg; and her siblings, Bob, Lois and Nan.
