Department

• Joshua L. Wielard, 30, of Pella, was charged with second-degree theft at 2:57 a.m. Dec. 3 in the 500 block of East Fourth Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to MercyOne Newton Medical Center for a report of a domestic fight. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female. She told the police Wielard had come from Pella and they had a physical altercation. However, the female refused to cooperate with the investigation. The female was found sitting in the passenger seat of a green van and told officers Wielard had taken her personal belongings and placed them in the van. Newton police ran the license plate of the van and discovered it was reported stolen and dispatch confirmed the status of the van with the Pella Police Department. Newton police discovered Wielard near on the property hiding behind a shed. Officers detained him and he admitted he drove the van from Pella in an attempt to make contact with the female. Wielard told Newton police the van belonged to a friend of his mother. Wielard was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Alicia M. Woody, 34, of Newton, was charged with interference with official acts and providing false identification information at 8:55 p.m. Dec. 4 in the 300 block of East 20th Street South. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call regarding a trespass issue. Upon arrival, the NPD spoke with residents and the owner who advised Woody had been staying in an apartment that was supposed to be empty. The victim stated Woody had identified herself to the individuals on scene and advised officers she had walked away from the scene traveling east on First Avenue East. The victim requested Woody be trespassed from the property. Newton police also received a photo of Woody from those at the scene. Officers located Woody on First Avenue and told her to stop but she would not comply. Newton police asked Woody for her name multiple times to which she said Peter Woody, which did not come back in dispatch. Officers compared the photo they received to previous photos of Woody and they matched. Newton police then located the same female in the 300 block of East 20th Street South and she identified herself as Woody. Newton police told her to turn around and place her hands behind her back and she asked what she was being arrested for. Officers told Woody the reason she was being arrested and she said she would not comply. Newton police asked many times for Woody to place her hands behind her back and explained the reasons she was being arrested. Woody was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Adam M. Bowen, 33, of Newton, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Dec. 4 at in the 500 block of South Eighth Avenue West on a Jasper County warrant for parole violation. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Justin D. Garza, 19, of Newton, was arrested at 10:12 a.m. Dec. 5 in the 100 block of North Second Avenue East on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation, original charge possession of marijuana. He was taken to the the Jasper County Jail.
