Department

• Renee S. Tedrow, 51, of Newton, was arrested at 2:04 p.m. Oct. 10 at in the 400 block of First Avenue East on a Jasper County bond revocation warrant and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Thomas E. Eilander, 36, of Newton, was charged with six counts of unauthorized use of a credit card from multiple incidents that occurred from Sept. 25 to Sept. 29. According to the Newton Police Department, the victim came to the police station at 1:38 p.m. Oct. 3 and told police someone was using her credit card at various stores in Newton. At 9:51 a.m. Oct. 3 Newton officers received video evidence from Newton 66 that allegedly shows Eilander using the credit card that belongs to the victim across multiple dates. Eilander used the card on Sept. 25 for the amount of $37.80 and $10.01. Eilander used the victims card on Sept. 26 for the amount of $186.26. Eilander used the victim’s card on Sept. 28 for the amount of $53.45 and on Sept. 29 for the amounts of $47.27 and $50.44. Eilander is currently at the Jasper County Jail.

• Eric J. Padron, 21, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct at 11:14 p.m. Oct. 5 in the 100 block of First Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call about a fight in progress. Upon arrival, police located the parties involved and observed Padron approach officers yelling at the male police were speaking with. Officers questioned Padron and he said his girlfriend had been assaulted by one of the parties and he had restrained the person by taking them to the ground. Padron denied throwing punches saying he was defending his girlfriend. Newton police observed Padron having bloodshot and watery eyes and the odor of alcohol coming from his person. Padron admitted to drinking alcohol and he provided a sample of his breath that registered a BAC of 0.163 and Padron waived his right to a chemical test. Padron was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Joseph S. Kain, 41, of Des Moines, was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication and Chaz A. Howard, 26, of Des Moines, was charged with disorderly conduct from an incident that occurred at 11:15 p.m. Oct. 5 in the 100 block of First Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers responded to a call of a fight in progress. When Newton police arrived and separated all parties that were engaged in the fight in the parking lot. Howard was on the ground and required medical attention and was taken to MercyOne Newton Medical Center by ambulance and witnesses identified Howard as participating in the fighting. Kain was also taken to MercyOne Newton for medical treatment as well. Both Howard and Kain were cited and released.

• Bobbie J. Brents, 36, of Newton, was charged with false report of indictable offense to public entity. According to the Newton Police Department, at 7 a.m. Oct. 1 an officer returned to work and received an email stating Brents had allegedly made up a story her boyfriend had strangled her. Newton police recorded the confession on their body camera and Brents admitted to filing a false report in a written statement. Brents was cited and released.
