Ilene A. Ansley, 90, of Newton, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at Nelson Manor. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following burial at Newton Union Cemetery, a lunch will be served at Community Heights Alliance Church. Memorials to the Community Heights Alliance Church or Nelson Manor may be left at the funeral home.

Ilene, the daughter of Thomas Clayton or Sophia Louise (Duensing) Lowe, was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Sigourney. She grew up in Sigourney and graduated from Sigourney High School. Ilene was united in marriage with Paul Ansley Nov. 24, 1948, in Sigourney. They made their home in various locations with Paul’s job until moving to Newton in 1959. Ilene was a homemaker and a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. She also loved to spend time with her family.

Ilene is survived by her daughters, Beverley (Craig) Smith of Newton, Norma (Steve) Wiese of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ann (Craig) Schneider of Des Moines; grandchildren, Nathan (Ashely) Smith, Ben (Jeri) Smith, Char Wiese, Emily (Ryan) Holoch, Peter Wiese and Shannon Schneider; her great-grandchildren, Abby Smith, Mason Smith, Ella Wiese, Paul Holoch and Auden Carstensen; brother, Jack (Pat) Lowe of Swisher; sisters-in-law, Charlene Lowe of Nevada and Hazel Lowe of Arkansas; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 1992; sisters, Louise Young, Doris Crossett, Jean Yates, Vernalda Yahn and Eva Thayer; and her brothers, Bernard, Don, Roy and Bert Lowe.
