Newton Police Department
• Mary E. Salow, 26, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication at 11:33 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 100 block of First Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers observed two females yelling in the alley next to PB’s Pub. Newton police went to the alley and found a female identified as Salow. She had red, watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and was unstable on her feet. Salow consented to a preliminary breath test which showed a blood alcohol content of .164. She waived her right to a chemical test. Salow was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
