‘The Country Classic Rythmers’

I would like to start out by thanking the Farmers’ Market for giving us the opportunity to play at their event. They serve our community with a great service for produce farmers and the people of Newton. It is a great way to get out in our community and be able to give back. We have played the farmers’ market on two different occasions. It is great to support city functions.

This band has played together for just about one year. What brought all of us together is the love of music. We started playing at the VFW in Newton last fall. This is the product of a lot of fun jams, just getting together to play.

Eva Miller and Al Gerling have played together for 18 years. Charlie and Marcie Attkinson joined last summer. Then Danny Bergloff, Jay Durant and Brenda Penning last fall. We all have our favorite song and instruments to play.

Charlie Attkinson, of Des Moines, played some lead, rhythm guitar, and sings lead and backup vocals. Marci Attkinson, of Des Moines, plays percussion and sings lead and backup vocals. Al Gearling, of Newton, plays bass. Jay Durant, of Newton, plays bass. Danny Bergloff, of Newton, plays rhythm guitar. Brenda Penning, of Newton, plays rhythm guitar and sings vocals. Haley Lambertus-Altemeier, 9, of Newton, sings vocals. Eva Miller of Newton, plays rhythm guitar, sings lead and backup vocals and is the band leader. Deam Miller of Newton is the sound man and roadie.

We play at Nelson Nursing home on the first Monday of the month. Then Accura East on the third Monday of the month. As a group, we are always looking for a place to play. We will be playing from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Rock Creek State Park. If you are looking for a band and would like to book us, call me at 641-275-2527.
