Four Colfax-Mingo players earn all-SICL baseball honors

Colfax-Mingo failed to gain consistent traction in the South Iowa Cedar League this past baseball season.

Colfax-Mingo ended up seventh in the SICL at 7-8 and four players earned all-conference honors for their efforts.

C-M senior Zarek Hill was recognized for his efforts behind the plate, earning second-team honors. Junior Trystin Ross was named to the second team as an infielder.

Junior Brady Berkey and sophomore Zach Steenhoek earned honorable mention honors.

Hill was one of Colfax-Mingo’s top run producers.

Overall, Hill batted .325 and had an on-base percentage of .509, which led the Tigerhawks. He also finished with a team-high 15 runs, stole a team-high nine bases, was hit by a team-most seven pitches and had one double, two triples, eight walks and eight RBIs.

In conference play, Hill hit .294 but had an OBP of .429. He finished with seven runs, one double, one triple, five RBIs, four walks, five steals and four hit by pitches.

Ross led the Tigerhawks with 17 RBIs and eight doubles this past season. He also batted .357, had an OBP of .507 and tallied 12 runs, one triple, one homer, 15 walks, three steals and two hit by pitches.

In conference play, Ross batted .356 and had an OBP of .482, which were both team highs. He finished with eight runs, a team-high six doubles, one home run, 11 walks, two steals and a team-high 12 RBIs.

Berkey led the Tigerhawks in overall batting average at .371 and his OBP was .451. He finished with 11 runs, six doubles, one triple, 12 RBIs, eight walks and three steals.

In conference play, Berkley batted .311 and had an OBP of .415. He finished with four runs, four doubles, six RBIs, eight walks and three steals.

Steenhoek led the Tigerhawks with 15 runs and 17 walks. He also batted .276 and had an OBP of .455. He finished with seven RBIs, five steals and two hit by pitches.

In conference play, Steenhoek batted .298 and had an OBP of .450. He finished with a team-high 13 runs and a team-best 12 walks as well as seven RBIs and five steals.

There are no defensive statistics available for Colfax-Mingo.
