A weekend to remember

On behalf of the Newton High School Class of 1969, I wish to thank some people and groups that made our 50th reunion weekend one to remember.

Firstly, Lisa McKinney and the Newton Alumni Committee were a big help in coordinating with our planning committee in the months leading up to our events. They rolled out the Red Carpet in welcoming all Newton High School graduates for the All-Class Reunion. The Friday night festivities at the DMACC/Maytag Legacy Park were outstanding. The venue was perfect, the price was great, the food hit the spot, the Cellar Peanut Pub and vendor trucks provided a great variety of drinks, and it was extremely enjoyable to visit with so many alumni of all ages.

We are grateful to the City of Newton as well for the continued tradition of having a weekend designated to bringing home all Newtonians for a spectacular and memorable time.

Thanks to the Newton High School and Berg School administrators and employees who opened up their facilities for tours. Our class had the distinction of being the first seventh grade class at Berg Junior High 50 years ago and now the old school is gone making way for progress.

The All-Class Brunch and Hall of Fame Ceremony was well attended by our class and all reported what a great experience it was.

Thanks to all.

Doug Fisher,

Class of 1969 president
