Timothy J. Urias

Timothy J. Urias passed away June 12, 2019, at his home in Newton.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at the Hy-Vee Club Room, 1501 First Ave. E. in Newton, with a lunch to follow. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Newton Salvation Army or a charity of your choosing.

Timothy J. Urias, 55, the son of H. Jim and Mary Jean (Kelly) Urias, was born Aug. 13, 1963, in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School and received an associate degree in automobile mechanics and later in culinary arts at Des Moines Area Community College in Newton.

He enjoyed bicycling, his music (including blues, BB King and Buddy Guy), cooking and disc golf.

Tim is survived by his mother, Mary Jean Urias; his sister, Carmen Urias (Bret Christensen) of Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Jennifer Urias; his niece and nephew, Leah and Alec Urias; and many relatives and the friends he played disc golf with and went biking with. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Jim; and his brother, Tony.
