Mustangs advance past sectionals again

WILLIAMSBURG — Seniors Andrew Van Ryswyk and Reed Worth have never not advanced past sectionals in Class 2A during their high school golf careers.

That streak continued on May 10 when PCM’s boys’ golf team went to Stone Creek Golf Course and came home with a runner-up finish.

The top three teams at the sectional advanced to districts after host Williamsburg won the meet.

The Raiders shot a 317 and defeated the Mustangs (327) by 10 strokes. Mid-Prairie finished a distant third with a 357.

Van Ryswyk wound up as the runner-up medalist after winning a card off with Williamsburg’s Austin Burns. Both golfers shot an 80.

Williamsburg’s Dylan Burns won medalist honors with a 71.

Gatlin Boell won a card off over fellow Mustang Andrew Mitchell to finish fourth. Both PCM golfers turned in 81s.

Worth, who competed with the track and field team later that night, had the final counting score with an 85.

Grant Landgrebe shot a non-counting 94 and Gabe Lanphier had a non-counting 106.

The district tournament is at Heritage Oaks/Indian Hills Golf Course at 10 a.m. on May 17 in Wapello.
