Newton Police Department

• Heather S. Young, 47, of Newton, was charged with driving while license under suspension, leaving the scene of an accident — property damage only and striking fixtures upon a highway at 10:33 p.m. April 21 in the 1000 block of East Eighth Street North. According to the Newton Police Department, Young was driving a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 pickup truck northbound on East Eight Street North when she veered off the roadway and struck a utility/light pole on the east side of the roadway. She then left the scene without notifying the owner of the light pole, Alliant Energy or the NPD. Young sustained minor injuries to the inside of her lower lip as a result of the collision. The estimated damage to the truck is $2,500. The light pole was destroyed with a replacement estimated at $5,000. Young received a citation.

• Tara L. Stevens, 24, of Newton, was arrested at 9:23 p.m. April 23 in the 1800 block of West Fourth Street North on a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to appear on a domestic assault charge. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dani R. Rogers, 43, of Newton, was arrested at 4:33 a.m. April 25 in the 1600 block of North 19th Avenue East on a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to appear for a show cause hearing on violation of probation, original charge possession of marijuana. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
