Travers and originally portrayed by actress Julie Andrews in the Walt Disney-produced 1964 film will be reimagined on the Newton Community Theatre stage on March 8-10, 12 and 14-16. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for youth. This is a family friendly event. All dances are taught and you do not need to know how to dance or bring a partner. Acoustic musicians are welcome to join the band off-mic. According to League president Jane Odland, elected leaders who have been invited include State Rep. Wes Breckenridge, D-Newton; Rep. John Thorup, R-Knoxville; Sen. Amy Sinclair, R-Allerton; and Rep. Zach Nunn, R-Bondurant.
