Linda Perrenoud

Feb. 4, 2019

Linda Maria Perrenoud, 68, wife, mother, nana, aunt and friend to all, died peacefully Feb. 4, 2019, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines. She was surrounded by loved ones. A funeral mass was Saturday, Feb. 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Jasper County Historical Museum or in Linda’s name may be directed left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.

Linda grew up by the shore in Manahawkin, N.J. While in high school she saw some nice pictures of Central College in Iowa and decided to head to Iowa for college. While at Central she pursued her degree in theater, speech and education and most importantly met the love of her life, Bill Perrenoud.

Making their home in Newton, Linda’s life was full of teaching and theatre. She taught at Prairie City Monroe High School and in her spare time was part of the Newton Community Theater. While at the theater her daughter, Traci, would always be in tow so Linda could make sure the love of theater was passed down to her. Linda was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Retired Teacher’s Association, Thespians Hall of Fame and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir. She was an active volunteer for the Jasper County Historical Museum. Linda also thought retirement was for the birds so decided to work part-time with the Grinnell High School speech team and as a mutual teller at Prairie Meadows.

Linda had a passion for life and knew a laugh and a smile could take you anywhere.

Linda is survived by her husband of 45 years, William “Bill” Perrenoud; daughter, Traci (John) Berry; her grandson, Jax Berry; brother, David (Betty) Garrison; her sister, Pam Short; brother-in-law, Charles Johnson; aunt, Ginger Eismann; and her nieces and nephews including nephew, Ethan Short. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Johnson; and brother-in-law, Edward Short.
