Klemme headlines Bolts on Iowa Star all-conference baseball teams

The Baxter baseball team placed four players on the Iowa Star all-conference teams after going 3-11 in its first season in the league.

Leading the way was first-teamer Derrick Klemme. Senior Travis Lindemoen and sophomore Carter Nelsen earned second-team honors and sophomore Cole Damman was an honorable mention pick.

Klemme, a junior, was a first-team outfielder. In conference play, Klemme batted .380 with an on base percentage of .426, which tied Lindemoen for tops on the team. He finished with eight runs, seven RBIs, four walks and two steals. He committed one error with a fielding percentage of .875.

Overall, Klemme hit .368 with an OBP of .427. He scored eight runs, had eight RBIs and finished with seven walks and two steals. He committed one error for a fielding percentage of .917.

Lindemoen, one of the team’s three seniors, was a second-team catcher. In conference games, Lindemoen batted .340 with an OBP of .426. He scored a team-high 15 runs, had two doubles and finished with six RBIs, five walks and a team-high 13 steals. He committed two errors for a fielding percentage of .971.

Overall, Lindemoen hit .377 with an OBP of .456. He scored a team-high 20 runs, stole a team-high 17 bases and finished with three doubles, two triples, six RBIs and eight walks. He had two errors for a fielding percentage of .981.

Nelsen was a second-team infielder. In conference games, Nelsen batted .238 with an OBP of .347. He finished with four runs, three doubles, a team-high eight RBIs and four walks. He committed two errors and had a fielding percentage of .971.

Overall, Nelsen averaged .246 at the plate and had an OBP of .343. He finished with a team-high 10 RBIs, five runs, five doubles, five walks and two steals. He committed three errors for a fielding percentage of .968.

Damman earned honorable mention honors after leading the team with a .391 batting average in conference play. His OBP was .417 and he finished with 10 runs, three doubles, five RBIs and a team-high 13 steals. He committed six errors for a fielding percentage of .867.

Overall, Damman batted .294 with an OBP of .333. He finished with 11 runs, three doubles, five RBIs, three walks and 15 steals. He had 13 errors and a fielding percentage of .812.
