JuliAnn “Juli” Saak, 56, of Baxter, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in a tragic accident. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 9 at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 10 at Bethany United Church of Christ with Reverend Teressa Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in rural Baxter.

Juli was born March 1, 1961, to Maurice and Ruth (Heckman) Miller in Cedar Rapids. Her family relocated to Baxter when she was 15 and she graduated from Baxter High School in 1979. Following high school she went to DMACC and DMU and became licensed as a registered nurse. She married Harold Rouse and they had a son, Aaron. The couple later divorced. Juli married the love of her life, Wayne Saak, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter June 4, 1988. They had a daughter Jennifer. Together they raised their family on the farm outside of Baxter. Juli assisted Wayne in owning and operating Gardener Millwork in Newton. She also worked for Broadlawns Medical Center, Capstone and for the last 15 years worked as an RN with Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Juli was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ where she served on the consistory, Jasper County Agriculture Society, Jasper County Sheep Producers, Mid-Iowa Antique Power Club and card club. She was very social and loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed flowers, church activities, cooking, baking, helping people and her pets.

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Wayne Saak of Baxter; children, Aaron (Katie Linn) Rouse of Des Moines and Jennifer (Julian) State of West Des Moines; mother, Ruth Miller of Baxter; mother-in-law, Doris Saak of Baxter; sister, Cyndi Miller of Des Moines; aunt, Doris Gerry of Oregon, Wis.; special friends, Mike and Rhonda Guy and Reed and Teresa Hiemstra; many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.

Juli was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Miller; and father-in-law, Virgil Saak.

Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Juli and her family.
