Thursday was the day of the annual Newton High School The Big Game for the high school’s special needs students. Before the game, the National Anthem was sung by three players — Baileigh Vest, Hannah Boecker and Cheynne Nida. The high school pep band, cheerleaders and Pacesetters were on hand to help lead the NHS student body and other fans in cheering the teams on.
Six seniors were recognized at halftime — Christian McChyghy, Yesenia Amador, Mollie Bird, Elijah Van Gorp, Jordan Danks and Sam Townsend. It also was announced by event coordinator Jill Stanton that this was her last Big Game.
