to keep hydrants clear

Newton Fire Chief Ed Clements is asking for the public’s help in keeping the city’s fire hydrants visible.

While homeowners are cleaning their sidewalks and driveways, Clements is hoping that they will take a few extra minutes and clear the snow a couple of feet away from the fire hydrant. That way firefighters won’t need to spend crucial minutes searching for hydrants in a snowdrift in the event there is a fire.
