NDC to host leadership classes at Newton DMACC

By Special to Daily News

The 2010 Jasper County Community Leader Development program starts March 2 in room 264 at the Newton Development Corporation offices on the DMACC campus in Newton. A collaborative effort among several community partners, the program is designed to help all Jasper County residents develop individual leadership skills to more effectively partipate in community leadership opportunities with government and organizations throughout Jasper County.

“I feel this class helped me become a better board person,” said Jeff Maki of Clemon-Maki Insurance, who took the class last spring. “The COLORS part of the class is well worth the price of tuition, it really helped me understand myself and how to communicate better with others. I highly recommend the Jasper County Community Leader Development Program.”

The program was developed in partnership with the Jasper Community Foundation, Newton Development Corporation, JEDCO, DMACC, and Iowa State University Extension.

Dan Skokan, Chair of the Jasper Community Foundation announced, “We are excited to again partner in this leadership training opportunity by providing a 50 percent tuition reimbursement to the first 20 Jasper County residents who enroll and successfully complete the program. Our board is committed to building leadership capacity in Jasper County.” To learn more about the tuition assistance opportunity, individuals should call the Newton Development Corporation at 787-8210.

To register for the program, call DMACC at 791-3622 or (800) 362-2127. Refer to Course Number 25600. Full payment of $219 is due at time of registration. After successfully completing the course, half the tuition will be refunded to the participant by DMACC.
