PELLA — Central College’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble (SWE) and College-Community Band (CCB) will perform together for Central’s free Sunday Concert Series on Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. in Douwstra Auditorium.

The College-Community Band will perform “Cross Creek” by Carl Strommen, “Country Gardens” by Percy Grainger, “Monterosi” by Jacob de Haan, “John Williams in Concert” arranged by Pau Lavender and “Washington Post March” by John Philip Sousa. Adam Van Arkel, a junior music education major from Newton, will conduct “Monterosi.”

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform “Lincolnshire Posy,” “Molly on the Shore” and “Irish Tune from County Derry,” all by Percy Aldridge Grainger. They also will perform “Superman March” by John Williams. Michelle Dickinson, a senior music education major and member of SWE from Greenfield, will conduct “Irish Tune from County Derry.”

SWE and CCB are under the direction of Mitchell Lutch, director of bands and assistant professor of music. SWE is a select instrumental ensemble featuring 45 performers. The CCB is a select instrumental ensemble and features both Central College students and members of the Pella community.
