Newton authorities investigating break-ins
Newton police are investigating three reports of break-ins from the weekend, one of which involved a suspect entering a local resident’s home while the occupants were asleep.
According to the police department, all three incidents were reported by residents in the southwest area of Newton. Two break-ins occurred between 2:50 and 3:30 a.m. Sunday and were reported later that morning. One occurred at a home in the 900 block of South 13th Avenue West, and the residents reported someone entered the home in the night and took several items from the house while they were asleep.
The other incident occurred at a residence in the 1000 block of West Fourth Street South, where authorities found a garage window pried open. Nothing was found missing from the resident’s garage.
On Monday, a resident of the 900 block of West Seventh Street South reported an unspecified amount of change had been taken from a parked vehicle some time during the night.
The incidents remain under investigation.
