Through seven games with the Grand View University women’s basketball team, Newton-native Amy Vos is proving she belongs on a collegiate basketball floor.

Vos has not started a single game this year but is the team’s second-leading scorer at 15.3 points per game and is third on the team in rebounding at 6.3 per contest. She also is shooting 50 percent from the field and 84 percent from the foul line.

The Vikings are 5-2 this year. Former Newton standout Molly Gunsaulus also is on the roster and currently averages two points per game.

In Grand View University women’s soccer, the Vikings will be competing in the national tournament soon after knocking off No. 25 St. Ambrose, 1-0, last week.

Playing for the Vikings (10-9-1) soccer program this year is Newton natives Jordyn Thompson and Cara Straka as well as Monroe native Kayla Lagergren and Prairie City native Jenny Parsons.

The weather...
I love it, bring on the snow
I am so sick of winter, bring on the sunshine
I am ready to mow my lawn everyday, if that means no more snow this season
No opinion just dealing with what we are given
