Hate crime law violates constitutionTo the Editor, America was founded on many liberties and equal justice under the law is one of them. Yet thanks to the federal government we now have unequal justice through the Matthew Sheperd “hate crimes” law. This law potentially violates the first and fifth amendments. Plus it definitely violates the 14th amendment by giving special protection to certain groups not given to all. Through this law we may see harassment, intimidation, persecution and prosecution of anyone who disagrees with the unnatural lifestyle. Legalized hate in the name of so called “justice.” Why did the president and Congress break their oath of office by passing such an unjust and unconstitutional law? They should be held accountable.
