To the Editor,

The only moral and just social system is exactly what we in the United States enjoy today, except as bastardized by overbearing government.

Our founding documents establish that we have sanctity of contracts, voluntary association and, most importantly, limited government, among private property, rule of law, individual rights and freedom of movement. Obama calls our Bill of Rights a “bill of negative rights,” because it restrains government from regulating citizen’s personal rights and doesn’t allow the government a monopoly of prescribing behavior.

Business has a right to profit and private citizens to produce and trade without government regulation.

A shining example of government meddling in health matters is that by the second Monday in October, one couldn’t receive a vaccination in Newton for any type of flu.

So Sen. Grassley accepts donations from insurance. Sen Harkin accepts thousands from unions and Hollywood communists. Insurance companies provide jobs in the thousands for citizens while labor unions provide none. Who has driven industrial jobs out of the country? Not insurance, but unions as in the demise of International Harvester, once the largest in their field and the emasculation of “Government Motors” Corp., which has deleted several nameplates not to mention the several in Newton now only memories.

Harkin doesn’t care a fig about those industrial jobs because now the rising tide of pro-socialist Democrat money comes from public sector unions like teachers, AFSCME, postal workers, SEIU, etc.

The so-called public option is a Hobson’s choice myth as there will be no real alternative. Ditto the pledge that no illegal immigrants will get medical care because before the ink is dry on medical care takeover, Obama will offer amnesty to all who are here.

Now Harkin is pulling all the stops to pass “card check,” which will eliminate the secret ballot in union elections to let workers decide whether to unionize. This is as anti freedom and anti choice as man can conceive but will increase forced dues and fees for Democrat coffers.

Why is it that Sotomayor, Obama and Harkin have never seen an anti Second Amendment bill they don’t favor? Citizens in a communist country must not have the means to resist tyranny and that’s the real bottom line!
