Newton senior Nick Ellis and the Cardinal cross country teams could not run in the district/regional meets Thursday due to excessive rain across Central Iowa. The make-up date for all area teams will be Monday. Newton and Lynnville-Sully will compete in the Class 4A and 1A meets at Marshalltown Community College beginning with the 4A girls at 3:30 p.m. Monday. In Class 2A, PCM, Collins-Maxwell-Baxter and Colfax-Mingo will run at Nodaway Valley beginning at 3:30 p.m. All five teams will run for a chance to compete at the state meet, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 31, in Fort Dodge.
