In its fifth installment, the annual Dinner by Ghostlight event at Sugar Grove Vineyards and Gatheringplace is ready to offer a spooky good time.
The show, “House of Iowa: Real Iowa Ghost Encounters Brought Back to Life!”, is based on reported hauntings revealed in Paranormal Investigator Chad Lewis’ book “The Iowa Road Guide to Haunted Locations.”
The House of Iowa show features a premise whereby a young couple, anxious to start a family, finds themselves living in the most haunted place in Iowa — a veritable spectral detention center.
The Chasing Iowa Players, playing 18 roles (normal and paranormal), is based in Newton and Des Moines.
The actors include: Maureen Korte of Urbandale, a professional international storyteller (and director of the Museum Theatre program at the Iowa State Historical Society); Sean Carlock of Newton, a former Ringling Brothers clown and a current touring magician/clown; Amanda Mullen of Ankeny, a young (but seasoned) actress who will be relocating to pursue an acting career as soon as this show is over and Gary Kopsa of Newton, a busy character actor and Civil War re-enactor/performer.
The show also features live music and effects performed by the composer John Mattingly as well as dinner music by jazz/rock combo The Grange Cats (Steve Norris and Steve McCombs of Pella as well as John Mattingly).
