Created: Tuesday, October 6, 2009 10:54 a.m. CST Updated: Tuesday, October 6, 2009 10:55 a.m. CST Veterans asked to share oral history of service for future generationsThe Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum, in partnership with the Library of Congress, is honoring veterans of foreign wars by preserving their individual stories of military service or civilian efforts that supported the military. Library staff members and volunteers will interview men and women who served during WWI, WWII, and the Korean, Vietnam, Persian Gulf and Afghanistan wars. Interviews will be conducted during the months of November and December at the Hoover Library in West Branch, Iowa. Once completed, they will be sent to the Library of Congress to be added to the collection of stories from around the country. Since 2000, more than 60,000 men and women have shared their memories with the Library of Congress. Call Mary Evans at (319) 643-6031 for an appointment. |
