Historic ‘Old Mill’ in Lynnville
open for public tours this summer

The historic Wagaman Mill in Lynnville is open to visitors this summer. The “Old Mill” is a historic landmark of Jasper County, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The mill was built on the North Skunk River in Lynnville in 1848. It can be reached by going south off Interstate 80 at exit 179.

The Wagaman Mill will be operated and interpreted by a guide from the Jasper County Conservation Department or the Lynnville Historical Society. The mill is open from 2 to 4 p.m. on each Sunday afternoon between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.

Visitors to the mill will have a chance to observe the water-powered mill in operation and view the antique milling equipment and artifacts that are on display. There is a picnic shelter and restrooms at the adjoining mill park. A picturesque footbridge crosses the North Skunk River where the wagon bridge used to stand.
