AMES (ISU) — Iowa State has added another marquee opponent to its 2009-10 men’s basketball schedule with the addition of national power Duke on Jan. 6, 2010, in Chicago’s United Center, according to Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
“It’s great to add a program of Duke’s stature to our non-conference schedule,” Iowa State men’s basketball coach Greg McDermott said. “Certainly, our players will be excited about the opportunity for our team to measure itself against one of the nation’s elite programs.”
The Cyclones also will be playing in Chicago over the Thanksgiving holiday against Saint Louis University and either Northwestern or Notre Dame.
“Having our men’s basketball team play in Chicago three times during the next year is a tremendous opportunity for Iowa State University to showcase itself in front of the 10,000 alums living in the greater Chicago area,” Pollard said. “The Cyclone alumni base in Chicago is our second largest, and we expect a big turnout.”
Ticket information for the Iowa State-Duke game will be announced later as will the remainder of the Cyclones’ schedule for next season.
