Sculpture Fest showcases creations

The Iowa Sculpture Festival appeared in a new venue for its seventh year, showcasing Building 16 of Iowa Telecom, one of Maytag’s historic buildings. The festival featured 28 artists in 31 booths, plus demonstrations, food and entertainment.

The festival’s first place achievement award went to Pat and Ken Larson of Sturgeon Lake, Minn. Second place was Steve Maxon and Doris Park of Kalona, and Eric Stearns of Albia was third. Honorable mentions went to Ron Dinsdale of Huxley, Nick Klepinger of Reasnor, Steven Maeck of Floral City, Fla., Brian Roberts of Pella, John schwartzkopf of Cedar Rapids, Eric Stearns, Hilde Verhofste of Cumming, and Doug Weideman of Iowa Falls. The Popular Choice Award went to Eric Stearns.
