Several local P.E.O. members recently attended the 117th annual convention of Iowa State Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood, held May 30-31 in Des Moines.

With the theme “P.E.O. — All About PEOple,” Sally Long Chapter EJ, Des Moines, presided over 700 delegates and visitors. Twenty-five chapters from northwest Iowa served as the hostess group for the convention. The event was headed by Cathy Hermanson, FZ, Story City; Denise Carlson, FZ, Story City; and Judith Twedt, AM, Nevada.

Attendees participated in workshops and heard from recipients of several of P.E.O.’s five philanthropies and the Iowa P.E.O. Project Fund Inc. The convention concluded with the installation of the seven 2009-2010 executive board officers lead by President Margaret P. Hubbard, Chapter BC, Waverly.

Also installed were First Vice President Jill E. Mortenson, OV, Cedar Falls; Second Vice President Judy A. Hughs, MF, Council Bluffs; Organizer Babara B.
