ICGA to sponsor ACRE workshops
JOHNSTON — Iowa’s growers are being urged to take advantage of free ACRE Answers Seminars on the new Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program this summer, sponsored in part by the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA).
“With all the changes in farm programs, it’s important for every grower to review the options and be clear about how ACRE can work for his or her operation,” said Gary Edwards, ICGA president.
The seminars will cover a range of ACRE topics, including election, enrollment, new FSA forms, certifying farm yields and use of county plug-in yields.
Steve Johnson, ISU farm management specialist, will discuss ACRE economics, including price and yield calculations, the probability of ACRE payments, using the ACRE calculator and comparing ACRE to traditional programs.
While there is no registration fee, attendees are asked to pre-register. All sessions begin at 7 p.m. Dates, locations, and registration phone numbers are as follows:
