Red Rock celebrates 
40-year anniversary

Iowa’s largest lake is turning 40.

A celebration planned for June 12 and 13 will mark the 40th anniversary of the creation of Lake Red Rock. Lake Red Rock is located just 45 minutes southeast of the Des Moines metro area between the communities of Knoxville and Pella. 

The celebration will include the Running Rocks 5k sponsored by the Pella Rolscreen Foundation, an individual and team race up the Cordova Observation Tower, entertainment, food, art and nature activities for children, geo caching, photo contest, essay contest and a historic display of the Lake Red Rock area past, present and future.
