Two 4-H members receive scholarships

Two Jasper County 4-H members recently received 4-H Scholarships awarded by Iowa State University Extension and the Jasper County Youth Committee.

Receiving a $250 Scholarship is Samantha Nilles of Newton. Niles is a nine-year 4-H member of the Newton Town Club. She has excelled in family and consumer science projects.

Receiving a $500 4-H Scholarship is Eva Opfer of Colfax. Opfer is a nine-year 4-H member of the Poweshiek Partners 4-H Club. She has excelled in the horse project area along with communications and family and consumer science projects.

Both girls have demonstrated exceptional leadership, record keeping and communication skills and have held numerous offices for their 4-H clubs, all while maintaining a high academic performances.
