Homemakers Guild

The Iowa Master Farm Homemakers Guild (IMFHG) met April 18 at the nationally know Reiman Gardens in Ames. The IMFHG is an honorary organization of farm homemakers that carries out a number of philanthropic activities throughout the year. Members attending from Jasper County were Esther Schmidt and Betty E. Snook of Newton and Vernadine Kaisand of Grinnell. Projects for 2009 included Water for All, Save the Sight, Ruth Sayre Scholarship Fund and Friendship Pennies.

New IMFH members will be honored and introduced at the fall meeting on Sept. 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Johnston.

The IMFHG will host the National Women’s Council of the World meeting in West Des Moines on Sept. 20.

The new IMFH cookbooks were distributed to members to be sold around the state and may be purchased from Master Farm Homemakers in the area.

During the luncheon, a presentation about the gardens and the butterflies was enjoyed by members and spouses. The group then were led on a guided tour of the gardens and butterfly house.

The IMFH wishes to thank Wallace Farmer for sponsoring this organization.
