State OKs $460,000 for Mingo water quality
Mingo will be one of the 34 communities receiving funding in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through the Community Facilities and Services Fund and the Water/Sewer fund.
“I’m glad the state is partnering with us to improve our water quality because updating the water and sewer system in Guttenberg would not be possible without this state assistance. The project will help rebuild our community and create good-paying jobs,” said State Representative Paul Bell (D- Jasper).
Mingo will receive a $269,000 grant from the Water/Sewer Fund. The fund is available for cities or counties that are on an annual competitive basis. Funding may be used on sanitary system improvements, water system improvements, water and wastewater treatment facilities, storm sewer projects related to sanitary sewer system improvements, and rural water connections.
Mingo will also receive an additional $191,850 from the State Revolving Fund (SRF). Many projects throughout the 34 communities will also receive additional funding from then SRF, a program that is jointly administered by the Iowa Department of National Resources and Iowa Financial Authority.
The SRF provides low interest loans for drinking water and wastewater treatment infrastructure improvements.
