Raider girls play from behind in loss

ANKENY — A slow start did in the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter girls basketball team Friday. The Raiders trailed 11-3 midway through the first period and virtually played from behind the rest of the night. Throw in 24 turnovers and 37 percent shooting from the floor, and the Raiders ended up with a 46-40 loss to Grandview Park Baptist in Ankeny at Faith Baptist Bible College. “I felt like we were ready to play, but we got out-rebounded for the first time this year,” CMB coach Eric Padget said. “They just wanted it more than we did.” Padget said he was proud of the way his team battled back in the first quarter. Down by eight, the Raiders finished the frame on a 7-0 spurt that featured two buckets from Jordan Maher and another from Mackenzie Peterm
